Hi all thought you might like to take a look at the finished bike. The bike will be officially unveiled at the Excel show on the MCN stand in February. I’m just waiting for the fairing to come back from painting, and final ignition programming on the dyno this Thursday.

Aprilia RSVR550~the bike Aprilia won’t build.
Engine - 77° V twin four stroke. Liquid cooled. Single overhead cam with rocker operated exhaust valves, chain timing drive, 4 valve heads, titanium valves.
Fuel - Lead free petrol.
Bore x stroke - 80 x 55 mm
Total displacement - 549 cc
Compression ratio - 12:1
Fuel system- Integrated engine management system controlling ignition and fuel injection. Throttle body: 40 mm
Ignition - Electronic.
Starting - Electric starting.

Lubrication - Dry sump with external oil tank. Separate gearbox lubrication.
Gearbox- 5 speed. Close Ratio gear ratios:

Clutch- Multiple discs in oil bath, cable operated.
Primary drive- Spur gears. Transmission ratio: 22/56.

Front suspension - Ohlins Black Anodized front: fork with upside-down rods in high resistance steel, Ø 42 mm, with adjustable extension and compression. Wheel bump position 120 mm.

Rear suspension - Rear: swinging rear fork in alloy of aluminum and magnesium, with arms with differentiated design. Ohlins Single shock-absorber with separate tank, adjustable extension, compression and spring preloading. Wheel bump position 130 mm

I was asked to make this bike for Simon Steele at

I started making this bike at the end of October 2006 with a completion deadline of the first day of the Alexandra Palace bike show in January. No pressure then!!
I started with a mint condition Aprilia RS250, and a Brand new Aprilia SXV550. The SXV550 motor went into the RS chassis as if it was designed to do so, well almost, serious chopping with my angle grinder and a bit of welding required.. The RS forks have been replaced with Ohlins Black anodized race forks the RS tank and seat have been replaced with Carbon fibre ZX10R parts. Pete Gibson exhausts made a Moto-GP style exhaust system. The stocks of parts from RSVR.net have been raided for all the ancillary parts to make the bike Aprilia won’t make. The bike is being painted this week and should have its first test, next weekend.
